Which drop-offs are recoverable—and which are not
A drop-off at identity verification may be a temporary pause while someone finds a document. A drop-off after a payment error is often terminal unless you intervene.
Tag exits with return windows: same session, same day, same week, never. Recovery rates tell you whether to redesign the step or simply improve reminders.
Include device and time-of-day splits. Mobile evening abandonments often recover on desktop the next morning—desktop lunchtime abandonments rarely do.
Put recoverable exits in one briefing section and terminal exits in another. Mixing them produces the wrong product backlog.
